VIGO in Spain
Maps for Vigo - Version 3
Vigo has a large and fairly deep bay that corresponds plenty of water. The tide difference is over 3.5 meter who makes the quite strong tidal currents in the area.
Northern inlet is deep and therefore currents will be larger there. North of Vigo bay is also "Ria de Pontevedra" who affect the Noth-East part of the VSK map.
Link to VSK Vigo Current Map.
The current is more important at inshore area, East of the islands where the Tides has 2 major Narrow inlets.
WIND
Behind High land the leward effect of wind is stronger and more fare out from land, see chart.
Wind from Land
When the wind blows from land so arises both a pressure and a wind twisting. The negative pressure causes a lower or nonexistent wind speed, which increases linearly with the twisted back to the original Wind. The height of the country corresponds to the underpressure size and affects the lower wind speed greater extent.
When the wind meets the land
When the wind blows against a lower or forested land that creates a suction effect, with wind twist to the land, as the diagram shows. The closer the country the greater twisted, and the rate is slightly lower.
If the wind blows towards the high country, it may instead be a mirror effect, where the wind bounces off the land, ie, when instead the wind turns to the opposite direction, from the land.
Wind near land at Vigo Map (v6)
It is 8 different wind direction who has to be set in detalj with speed and direction near land. That takes a lot of ours, to get right.
From Vigo Version 6 all the winds setting is done, for all the 8 different directions.
All future races will be set from the v6 of Vigo.
Vigo V_6 is the preliminary finally map, with all detalj setting done. Only if some default error is detected a further version will be added.
